Here it is! The 50 list you’ve been waiting for! The following 50 rock stars are NOT in order, so don’t get mad if someone is lower or higher than they should be…

P.S. They’re pictures are below the bio.

Johnny Cash

DOB: February 26, 1932

DOD: September 12, 2003 (at age 71)

Best known as The Man In Black.

Cash died of complications from diabetes

Tommy Bolin

DOB: August 1, 1951

DOD: December 4, 1976 (at age 25)

Best known for his work with Zephyr

Bolin died of a drug overdose.

Mick Ronson (Real name: Michael Ronson)

DOB: May 26, 1946

DOD: April 29, 1993 (at age 45)

Best known for his work with David Bowie from 1970 to 1973.

Ronson died of liver cancer.

Ingo Schwichtenberg

DOB:  May 18, 1965

DOD:  March 8, 1995 (at age 29)

Best known as one of the founding members of Helloween

Schwichtenberg died from suicide.

Sid Vicious (Real name: John Ritchie)

DOB: May 10, 1957

DOD: February 2, 1979 (at age 21)

Best known as the bass player of the Sex Pistols.

Vicious died of a drug overdose.

Roy Orbison

DOB: April 23, 1936

DOD: December 6, 1988 (at age 52)

Best known as a pioneer of rock and roll.

Orbison died of a massive heart attack.

Randy Rhoades

DOB: December 6, 1956

DOD: March 19, 1982 (at age 25)

Best known has to have play played with Ozzy Osbourne and Quiet Riot.

Rhoades died due to a plane accident.

Ritchie Valens (Real name: Richard Valenzuela)

DOB: May 13, 1942

DOD: February 3, 1959 (at age 17)

Best known as a rock and roll pioneer and a forefather of the Chicano rock movement

Valens died from a plane accident.


Buddy Holly (Real name: Charles Holley)

DOB: September 7, 1936

DOD: February 3, 1959 (at age 22)

Best known as a pioneer of rock and roll.

Holly died in the same plane accident as Valens.


John Glascock

DOB: May 2, 1951

DOD: November 17, 1979(at age 28)

Best known as bass guitarist for the rock band Jethro Tull.

Glascock died of a congenital heart defect.

Robbin Crosby (Real name: Robbinson Crosby)

DOB: August 4, 1959

DOD: June 6, 2002 (at age 42)

Best known as lead guitarist in the band Ratt.

Crosby died from AIDS.

Dee Dee Ramone (Real name: Douglas Colvin)

DOB: September 18, 1951

DOD: June 5, 2002 (at age 50)

Best known as a founding member of band The Ramones.

Ramone died of a drug overdose.

Steve Peregrin Took (Real name: Stephen Porter)

DOB: July 28, 1949

DOD: October 27, 1980 (at age 31)

Best known for his bongos playing and for his membership of T-Rex.

Took died after inhaling a cocktail cherry

Bob Marley (Real name: Robert Marley)

DOB: February 6, 1945

DOD:  May 11, 1981 (at age 36)

Jamaican singer-songwriter, musician, and Rastafarian. He was the lead singer, songwriter and guitarist for ska, rocksteady and reggae bands.

Marley died of cancer.


Duane Allman (real name: Howard Duane Allman)

DOB: November 20, 1946

DOD: October 29, 1971 (at age 24)

Best known as lead guitarist of the The Allman Brothers Band .

Allman was killed in a motorcycle accident.


Mike Gibbins

DOB: March 12th 1949


DOD: Oct. 4 2005 (at age 56)

Best known as the Badfinger drummer

Gibbins died of natural causes.

Pete Ham


DOB: April 27, 1947

DOD: April 24, 1975 (at age 27)

Best known as the leader of the group Badfinger.

Ham died of suicide.

Syd Barrett (real name: Roger Barrett)

DOB: January 6, 1946

DOD: July 7, 2006 (at age 60)

Best known as a founding member of Pink Floyed

Barrett died of pancreatic cancer.


Frank Zappa

DOB: December 21, 1940

DOD: December 4, 1993(at age 52)

American composer, musician, and film directior; Also wrote music for rock bands.

Zappa died from prostate cancer.

Per Yngve Ohlin (Stage name: Dead)

DOB: January 16, 1969

DOD: April 8, 1991 (at age 22)

Vocalist best known for his work with group Mayhem.

Ohlin died of suicide.

Freddy Fender (Real name: Baldemar Huerta)

DOB: June 4, 1937

DOD: October 14, 2006 (at age 69)

Best known for his work as a solo artist and in the groups Los Super Seven and the Texas Tornadoes.

Fender died of lung cancer.

George Harrison

DOB: February 25, 1943

DOD: November 29, 2001 (at age 58)

Best known as the lead guitarist for The Beatles.

Harrison died of cancer.

Elvis Presley

DOB: January 8, 1935

DOD: August 16, 1977 (at age 42)

He is considered a cultural icon, sometimes referred to as “The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll”, or simply “The King”.

Presley died of a drug overdose

Strummer died of an undiagnosed congenital heart defect.

pleeeez correct the reason for the death of robbin crosby of ratt. although he did have aids from needle sharing during the mid-80’s, he actually died of a drug overdose!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the one for elvis is wrong. elvis died of a massive heart attack. the heart attack was probably due to him taking drugs. it was not a drug overdose.

Hey – TheImproper.com – you asked “Where are the guys from Pink Floyd? They should be on this list for sure.” Um, Syd’s there and isn’t he the only one actually dead? SYD (ROGER KEITH) BARRETT RIP. Also I’d just like to say “WAY TO GO DUDES” for including my HERO Steve Peregrin Took – LOVE IT! I see Mr. Bolan isn’t there. Now that will upset some of his fans who like to right off His Tookness but I think its Brill. Thanx Guys

Nice to see Tookie posts today – his 29th anniversary 🙂 Funnily Enough Lazza Wallis gave me a tape of Chilli Willi & The Red Hot Peppers as he thought it would sound great in our converted ambulance which it did 🙂 and a link from Took though Lazza (who as I’m sure you know was his guiatist in Steve Took’s Shagrat) to Snakefinger Lithman is Martin Stone.
