I have to say that the kittens (temporarily named Brother and Sister) are thriving and really quick, too!

Brother is what people call a “Mama’s Boy”. He wants to be near Smokie a lot and will whine if Sister or Smokie get out of his line of vision. But he still likes to walk around and play with either Mommy or Sister. Sister, on the other hand, is definitely the more adventurer of the two. She doesn’t give it a second thought about walking around all over the bed or biting Brother. Both of their baby teeth are starting to come in and Brother is actually drinking water- sometimes. He’ll drink a drop and go for nursing. But of course, they’re still in the “need Mommy’s milk” stage. They are walking around for as well as they can. They are still a little wobbly and can’t quite run yet but they’re a bundle of energy.

If they are anything like Smokie was when she was a kitten, they will be Tarzans and Janes. When Smokie was a kitten, she had no problem scaling the curtains and just hanging there. I’ve opted to call one “Monkey” because I thought it was just weird and cute- which is totally me. But Manders said we would have to talk about names. We will most likely end up going with mythology names like we went for with Zeus.

I bet ya’ll want to see how big they’ve gotten, right?

Christmas in July: Dear Santa July 17, 2009

Note: I took the idea from Manders (aka Confetti Dreams).

Dear Santa:

It’s July. It’s hot, muggy, and no rain. I’m tired of it and wishing Fall would get here soon. So what does this have to do with you?

Everything! You grace us with your presence every year at Christmas, and getting through Fall just means you’ll visit us once again. But I must remind you: The cats are still sort of afraid of strangers. They are attached to their owners and don’t want attention from anyone unless he or she is part of the family. Of course, that doesn’t include that dog. They hate him. But then again, he loves to chase them. Speaking of the dog, he won’t bite. I promise that. His bark is a lot louder than his bite. Milk and Cookies are in the fridge. Pup likes cookies and kitties like milk. For the reindeer, since it’s going to be a long night, there is some soda in the fridge as well. They could probably use the caffeine.

So what do I want this year? Not much, really. Like my other half, a laptop would be REALLY nice. Then Mom wouldn’t get tired of hearing us argue about who has been on the longest or asking “When am I getting on?”. We wouldn’t have to argue either. True, sisters (especially twins) argue over inanimate objects like computers but after a while, it gets boring. We need something new to argue over! I’m pretty sure if I said more books or a nutcracker (which is on my “just-in-case” list), we wouldn’t have to argue over that and Christmas would end up boring. But of course I’ll take practically anything dealing with books, movies, music (heavy metal or Jagged Ege please), or nutcrackers.

Manders will take George Strait or Kahn (from Kamelot) under the tree this year. Forget any CDs or DVDs by these men. She’ll just take them as they are- in the flesh. She wants them only for a month, but I know her too well and she secretly wants them for more than a month. Please leave a note on how long she can keep them. Oh and if they come with any accessories (guitars, ya know), leave those as well. Mom could probably use a vacation. As far as where, that’s a conundrum. I have no clue! You’re better off asking her. I don’t know what you could get Daddy. You might want to ask him too.

Oh and if it isn’t too much trouble, please make sure that all pets are in the house. Smokie likes to escape. Give the Mrs my best.

As Mom, Manders, Dad, and I were leaving this place we had gone after we picked up Dad from work, I noticed that the truck was getting warmer. True that it was 95 out and our vehicle seems to attract heat like a moth to a bug zapper. So I said that when I get too hot in the dog days of Summer, I think of sweaters of the Fall, snow of the Winter, and turkey on Thanksgiving. While the thought of turkey doesn’t naturally bring the idea of “cold”, Thanksgiving can be nicely cool here. Just the idea of putting on a turtleneck (yes, I own one) and going over to my Grandmother’s house while it is 45* outside just makes me wish Fall would come sooner. Naturally, this sparked conversation between everyone.

rsz_1114677_0465_1_lgTwin had replied with something to the effect of buying a bag of ice and just laying on it. But ice in Texas just doesn’t last very long. Then Dad started saying something about ice and the cooling effect just as I turned my head to look out Mom’s driver side window. What I noticed seemed ironic but yet, creepy. Just as he finished saying what he was saying, a truck drove by that had a TCBY sign in the back. I let out this huge grin and said “That’ll work!”. Of course, we weren’t going to get any ice cream because we had ice cream here at home and we had planned on getting pizza for dinner. But the thought that we were thinking of “cooling” ideas.

While I don’t plan on venturing outside after 12pm tomorrow due to the fact that we are to have 100 degree weather with heat indexes well over triple digits, the thought of that TCBY sign going by just as Dad was talking about ice (or was it ice cream?) still makes me giggle. It’s not every day that something like this happens. Nope, surely isn’t.

A Twin’s Bond May 18, 2009

As I was leaving a comment on Mander’s MySpace profile, I was reminded of the bond I share with her.

A twin’s bond is one of the strongest in the world, if not THE strongest bond. While there are twins that don’t get along, hardly talk, or even hate each other, 95% of the time, they love each other to death. Not only are you born with an instant sibling, you are born with an instant best friend.

While me and Twin might have our arguments, we are never mad at each other for more than from a couple of minutes to a couple of hours. Then as the last second passes, we instantly apologize to each other. We never go to bed angry at each other, though if we ever do, we usually forget it that morning. We even have “play fights” where we exclaim profanities to each other or act like we’re mad just because we’re in a goofy mood. Usually Mom will get into the middle of it and say “Stop fighting!” and we remind her that we are just messing around with each other. We will argue over what CD to listen to in the car or what to watch on TV, but we compromise because we know we will eventually get our turn. Most of the time, we settle for something we both can enjoy.

We can lay a leg or arm over each other while laying down without feeling “too close to personal space” because when you have a twin, you have no personal space. You share the same DNA so why not share personal spaces? You share clothes, food, drinks, and even the bathroom when you’re helping you sister dye her hair purple. We are constantly talking, even if we’re not saying anything aloud. We know each other’s weaknesses as well as strengths. We know that one would prefer Kahn from Kamelot over Jagged Edge. We know when one of us isn’t feeling well, even if we don’t have to say it. We know what each other is thinking (scary thought!) and we still say the same thing at the same time together.

We don’t mind making a fool of ourselves from time to time because we’re twins. We don’t have to have an excuse to say why we are singing “Mr. Roboto” in a restaurant when we’re in a good mood. It may seem immature, but we’re not your average set of twins. We still feel like a kid sometimes and we embrace it- together.

We’re different, don’t get me wrong. But forever will we remain the same as long as our bond remains.

You can ask anyone in my family- there are times I make absolutely no sense!

Yesterday was another one of those times.

Mother and I had driven out to where my Dad works to pick him up (Keep this in mind as you are reading: It’s somewhat of an airport). Sissy didn’t feel like going with us so she stayed home. We arrived a little earlier than we had planned so while we were waiting, I decided to call Manders just to see how she was doing and how Zeus was doing. Not to mention we had a little business to talk about concerning a certain show she does on MySpace. True, we could’ve talked about it before we left or after we got back. But she had just woken up before we left so I wanted her to wake up a little bit before she starts making any promises about the show.

After I had asked her how she was doing or how the dog was doing, we started talking about the show. We were trying to decide when the best morning would be to film it at the park. While we were discussing this, I saw Dad zoom around on a golf cart. Not thinking of how stupid or weird I would sound, as Manders was in mid-sentence, I said “Oh look, there goes Daddy!”. Since I had Manders on speakerphone, you hear her laughing and Mom starts laughing. I immediately apologized and we resumed talks about what day would be best. As I started speaking, I noticed an airplane was coming down to land. Once again, not thinking, I blurted out “Hey, a plane!”. Manders starts laughing again- except a litlte harder this time.

I understand I seem very weird, especially when it comes to things like that. But moments like that seem more fun because they are unscripted and nothing can take away from the beauty of two twins and their mother having laughs because one of the twins can’t concentrate enough to have a decent conversation!

No but seriously, it was fun.

Around 6pm last night, I had awaken from a nap because I woke up a little early that morning. I was hungry as was the rest of the family. We didn’t want anything we had at home (not to mention we hadn’t gone to the store yet) so Mom asked what we wanted for dinner. Manders blurted out “Hamburgers!” but I wasn’t in the mood for burgers.

Somehow I persuaded Mom to let us eat dinner at our favorite Chinese buffet restaurant. They’re food is absolutely delicious!

Dinner started with relatively small talk. Daddy said to Mama that he fixed the toilet and we talked about Zeus. Then somehow, the conversation turned to me, Manders, and how we would parent our future kids! I don’t remember how it started but it didn’t end there!

A couple of minutes pass with little to no conversation. We were more into enjoying the food than talking about things that would seem so mundane. But after we had all gotten dessert, the conversation turned silly between sissy and I. We were discussing what “Thank You” was in Japanese and Chinese:

Sis: “Arigato” is “Thank You” in Japanese, right?

Me: I don’t know. I think so.

After I said that, we softly (but still loud enough for Daddy and Mama to hear us) started singing “Mr. Roboto” by Styx. I’m sure the man sitting by himself in the booth next to us heard the singing. He probably didn’t mind. He got free entertainment.

This isn’t going to be an interesting post. But because of the Swine flu outbreak and regular flu cases here in my area, I am homebound. I can get out for the ride, I can’t get out of the car. So I won’t be able to speak of the hot guy I saw on the way home or some cute guy saying “Hi” to me on the way out of the store (if that ever happens.). So naturally, I am inclined to speak of Smokie, Zeus, the books I am reading, or the music I am listening to. Or maybe perhaps the weird stuff I do when I am not blogging. Ok, I really don’t do any weird stuff when I’m not online. I read, watch TV, sleep (which I seem to be doing a lot lately), or study. Speaking of studying, I need to get back to doing that. Maybe I will this evening. Otherwise I’ll never be ready for that test.

Smokie has seemed to developed a habit of sticking her tail into their water bowl. For the second time today when I pet her, her tail was wet. I know it can’t be from cleaning herself because even when she grooms, she isn’t soaking wet. Since I am witty, I kept saying “Are you leaking? My cat is leaking!” and the family laughed. It just seems weird because the tip of her tail seems to be wet and I can’t figure it out unless she IS leaking or sticking it in the water bowl. Well atleast when it comes time for her Spring bath, she’ll be used to water. Yes, I bathe my cat. It’s not as hard as it seems when you start young. Except one year on my birthday, she escaped my grasp and the bathroom. She was trailing cat shampoo and water all over the house. Just to piss her off, I relathered her.

I am still reading the Twilight series. I am currently on the 3rd book and am in love with it. I would love to fall in love with a vampire like Edward that has superhuman powers. I know it’s just fantasy. But how cool would it be to fall in love with someone that makes your heart beat fast with every thought of his/her voice or knee-wobbling kisses. We all dream of that. I am also re-reading “A Dirty Job” by Christopher Moore. I bought the book after I checked it out from the library because I loved it. I can’t say what it’s about without going to Google for a synopsis or reading the book to give you one. It’s been about a year or two since I’ve read it so I don’t remember everything. But there is one funny part that always keeps me laughing (even if it is a bit morbid)- everytime his daughter says “kitty”, anyone in the near vicinity drops dead. I know it shouldn’t be funny but if there was a killer on the loose and all you had to say was “kitty” to get him dead?

You will not believe what song I am currently listening to! Does anyone remember the first time they heard Henry Hall’s “Teddy Bear Picnic”?

Me and Mom were just talking. Why, on earth, she mentioned it, I will never know. It made me feel old.

I know we were talking about a local college’s graduation month and she said that the high schools’ graduations weren’t until June. She seemed shocked by this- especially when I told her that me and Manders had graduated in June. I even remembered the date- June 3rd. I won’t post the year for the fear that I will feel old again.

I guess it doesn’t matter. What I am about to say will still make me feel old.

She mentioned that me and Manders had been out of high school for 6 years.

Mom: Does it make you feel old? Being out for 6 years?

Me: Yes. I mean, it doesn’t feel like 6 years. But I can’t believe it’s been 6 years already.

6 years. Wow. I know it hasn’t been that long but in 4 years, it will mean that our 10 year reunion will be coming up. Granted, I will be in college so I won’t be able to attend. But that just makes me feel old for some reason. You ever have those days when you go back to graduation, realize how long it has been, and suddenly feel ancient? Sometimes I will think back to high school. How I looked back then, how I acted, and what went on. It has been 8 years since our house (which we just live down the street from!) burned down. I still feel old looking back to those days.

Thanks Mom. I might be 24, but damn do I feel old now.

Decorator I am not… April 23, 2009

Crone and Bear It’s newest blog post reminded me that I am far from ever being a house decorator.

You can tell that the bedroom belongs to someone who isn’t in her 30’s. There are stuffed animals everywhere (okay, not everywhere. Several on the desk, on a nightstand, and on a shelf), mismatched curtains, a HUGE Longhorns above to bed like a headboard, and books everywhere. CDs are strewn about and none of the covers match. In fact, I have a black/beige blanket while Twin has a designer-looking blanket. Nothing seems to match and even the UT stuff I have accumulated are in different places. Even some of the curtains are hanging at different lengths.

Yea, I am 100% sure I am not a decorator.

I would watch HGTV for those home decorating shows and feel inspired. I would look around the bedroom and think “Oh yea, if we move this over here, it would look better!”. I would move the item but would be faced with another dilemma- where to put the item that was just replaced with something else. Because we don’t have storage or a big house for that matter, we have boxes stacked in the bedroom. It looks like we could be moving! So naturally, if I can’t find an item that was replaced for something else, it goes into a box. Yes, the boxes are labeled. Told you it looked like we’re moving.

Luckily, after Valentine’s Day, I finally put my prized Nutcracker away until the Holidays. But another problem goes along with that. What the hell do I put in there for Spring? I have cats so plants are out of the question. I have a dog so indoor trees are out of the question. I don’t even have a stuffed bunny. Sad, I know. I would love to paint the bedroom a nice rich dark color but where to put the pets while we paint is a problem. Princess and Patches don’t exactly get along. We’re not sure why. Maybe I’ll just buy yards and yards of fabric and use it as wallpaper. Safe, easy, efficient, and reuseable. Yea, fabric as wall paper. Brilliant idea!

Thanks to Manders, I am now following a fad. Oh you means, beside Twitter? I’m the one that started the fad within my family.

But I am currently reading the first book of the “Twilight” series. Manders wanted to read it to see what all the fuss was about. Now she knows. She eventually asked me to read it. I thought “Oh great, I am following a fad. I hate fads.” but to much of my surprise, the first book is so far good! Granted, I am only on Chapter 6. I would fall in love with Edward too! Something about being a Vampire and stealth is sexy to me. I checked out the 2nd book from the library as well so I can read it when I’m done with the first.

I also check out “Chicago” and “Now and Then” from the library. Both of them happen to be one of my favorite movies! I tend to lean towards musicals every once in a while (don’t act so shocked!) so I knew I would automatically love “Chicago”.  And Renee Zellwegger is one of my favorite actresses. Not to mention the soundtrack and music is just awesome! I even have some of the songs on the old iPod. Love iPods. I like “Now and Then” because I used to watch it when I was a teenager because Mom would watch it. It’s just a funny little movie where you can escape to another time and place.

Oh yea, and obviously, even though computer screens, people can tell we’re twins. Conley Isom, a meteorologist from KXXV (the place I went before. Remember from “My awesome memory!”?) is following both me and Manders on Twitter. I don’t know what my sister said, but Conley asked who her sister was. She said me. He replied with “I thought ya’ll were sisters!”. So me and the twin are either so memorable, we resemble each other. Or people can just tell no matter what. That was very cool!

I wish it wasn’t 90*. It’s too early to be too hot. I’m going to take a cold shower.

I don’t know if it’s because we will have severe thunderstorms heading our way after midnight or it’s because I have lost my mind.

Manders was entering a giveaway for an Outback Steakhouse gift card. And on our local menu, it had Kookaburra Wings as an appetizer. Now if anyone can remember back to their childhood, they would automatically remember the song “Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree. Merry, merry king of the bush is he. Laugh, Kookaburra! Laugh, Kookaburra! Gay your life must be…”. Well, I obviously do. Once my sister had said what appetizers they offered and said the Kookaburra Wings, I started singing it without skipping a beat. I had forgotten the second verse but you can bet that I sang that first part! Me and Manders started laughing our butts off! It was random but funny! She said “I wouldn’t be proud to know that”. In a way, she’s right. I don’t even know how I remembered it!  Maybe I’m suppressing my childhood songs. But it’s still funny.

Kookaburra Bird

Has this ever happened to you? You make a comment about asking someone a question that you haven’t asked yet and the person who you’re talking about whom you’re going to ask the question to starts arguing about it? Okay, let me explain- I said to my Dad that I was gonna ask my Mom if Waco (my city) had any chances of flooding due to the weather we will have in the morning. My dad obviously either didn’t hear me correctly or wasn’t paying attention. So we started having a fun little argument over what I said instead of what I wanted to ask. He kept saying “What are you asking? You’re not asking a question.” and I kept repeating myself until I reworded it for him. But for 5 minutes, we kept bantering back and forth about what he thought I WASN’T asking over what I WAS asking. I thought I had made myself pretty clear. Guess I wasn’t.

Anyways, Happy Easter my friends!

I know I’m posting a lot, but I am completely bored not to mention that I am not even tired yet. But if anyone follows me on Twitter, they know that I tend to post funny or humorous quotes just to make someone’s day a little brighter. I wanted to post a cat quote before bed on Twitter and decided to make ya’lls night (or day!) a little brighter with quotes about our furry friends- cats.

“Cats aren’t clean, they’re just covered with cat spit.” – John S. Nichols

“No matter how much cats fight, there always seems to be plenty of kittens.”- Abraham Lincoln

“People that hate cats, will come back as mice in their next life.” – Faith Resnick

“We humans are indeed fortunate if we happen to be chosen to be owned by a cat.” -Unknown

“In a cat’s eye, all things belong to cats.” – English proverb

“Do not meddle in the affairs of cats, for they are subtle and will piss on your computer.” – Bruce Graham

“A cat can purr its way out of anything.”- Donna McCrohan

“Those who will play with cats must expect to be scratched.” – Cervantes

“Cats always seem so very wise, when staring with their half-closed eyes. Can they be thinking, “I’ll be nice, and maybe she will feed me twice?”-Bette Midler

“Cats don’t bark and act brave when they see something small in fur or feathers, they kill it. Dogs tend to bravado. They’re braggarts. In the great evolutionary drama the dog is Sergeant Bilko, the cat is Rambo.” –James Gorman

“The clever cat eats cheese and breathes down rat holes with baited breath.” –W. C. Fields

To a cat, “NO!” means “Not while I’m looking” — Unknown

“If cats had opposable thumbs, they would have no need of humans.” – Toby

Lately I’ve been hammering on and on about wanting to review products and possibly hold a giveaway. Everyone else is doing it- it sounds like fun! And you know me- I’m all about fun. I’m the epitome of fun. I even have fun when I sleep. Ok, so not really but you get the idea.

As I was going down the list of other blog buttons and reading them, I stopped and wondered- maybe I could have a Texas Banter Reviews blog. But I stopped myself. I just can’t handle another blog. I update this one daily, Frugal Sissy weekly, and TwinTastic whenever I can remember. On top of that, I have to study for college AND find out what kind of business my family can start. Oy!  What was I thinking? You’d figure that after over 200 posts on here, several on the others, and College Algebra that my brain would be fried. But remember- I’m witty!

Of course, I’m still looking for products to review. I have a product from BzzAgent to review but it’s a Clean & Clear Makeup Removal kit so that will have to wait when I paint my pretty face for the boys. Who knows when that will be. Makeup + cold = weird complexion. I learned that the hard way one day. I was sick with a cold and when I’m sick, I’m pale. So I thought putting a darker foundation would help. Boy was I wrong! It looked like my face had tanned while I had on longjohns. But when I review the product (on BzzAgent as well on TB), I’ll get lucky and get more inquiries for a review/giveaway.

I still wish I could get rid of this cold and wish the dog would take a nap. He’s grumpy and needs one. So do I.
