Guest Spots August 20, 2009Posted by texasheartland in Blogging, blogs, Ideas, thoughts.
Tags: blog, blog posts, Blogging, blogs, guests, Ideas, thoughts
I have started thinking outside the box- Texas Banter can only go so far with just 1 person. So I have decided that I will be accepting only 2 guest spots for Texas Banter posts. The criteria is as follows:
*You must have a WordPress.com membership or sign up. You don’t have to use your blog, just sign up.
*You MUST own a blog or have a blog writing experience.
*If you are a “Mommy Blogger”, I ask that you don’t post your children’s information on Texas Banter. While this isn’t a “kid-free” zone, it may confuse some readers as I don’t have children.
* Send your information -name, blog URL, recent posts, e-mail, and WordPress username- to email@example.com with the subject “TB Guest Blogger”.
With that being said, if you are also interested in having Texas Banter as guest blogger, feel free to e-mail me at the aforementioned e-mail with the subject “Guest Blogger” with your blog name, theme, link, and what you expect from me. I do have a Blogger/Blogspot username.
More Christmas in July June 16, 2009Posted by texasheartland in blog, Blogging, blogs, Christmas, family, Giveaways, holidays, summer, winter.
Tags: blog event, Blogging, blogs, Christmas, Christmas in July, holidays, july
More Christmas in July! If everything turns out just like we want it, we’ll have product reviews, giveaways, shopping ideas so you can get all your Christmas shopping done before the Holiday rush, craft ideas, and maybe some decorating ideas!
We are still looking for a few more sponsors to help us with giveaways. If you are interested in sponsoring one of our Christmas in July product reviews/giveaways, please refer to PR Information and look for “Event PR”.
If you are a blogger wanting to participate in this year’s “Christmas In July” event, please refer to the following (from Confetti Dreams):
- # Through out July (starting the 1st and ending the 31st), create a few posts that deal with Christmas. This can be your favorite memory, your favorite/least favorite gift, craft ideas, recipes, reviews, or giveaways. You can get as creative as you want!
- # Before each post, either put “Christmas in July” or “CIJ” so we know which post to look for.
- # Confetti Dreams might have the cheap version of Mr Linky, so once you are done posting, you can post it there.
- # By the end of this week, Confetti Dreams will have made a button for every participating blogger to place on their blog. Confetti Dreams will of course put it in this post so you can see it and grab it.
Any blogs that are interested but have more questions, e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject “CIJ Participating” and I will get back to you as soon as I can. We are still working with sponsors for giveaways and product reviews. If you have any ideas for sponsors to contact, shoot us an e-mail the aforementioned with the subject “CIJ Sponsor Idea”.
Any problems with Mr. Linky will result in a post on Confetti Dreams with a list of participating blogs.

The Texas Summer has shown it’s ugly face and it looks as if it is to stay, which I am not thrilled about. So I try EVERYTHING to keep myself cool from the triple-digit heat that seems to be plaguing this side of the country this early in the season- frozen water, daily baths, jumping in the shower with all my clothes on, dreaming of Christmas, watching Christmas movies (or movies that have some Christmas in them), and even sticking my face in front of the air conditioner because it’s just so darn hot!
So Manders came up with a brilliant idea to beat the heat, even if it’s in our minds- a Christmas in July blog event between the two of us! There will be product reviews and & giveaways, craft ideas, early-shopping ideas, and who knows what else!
I know it’s a little too early to be thinking about Christmas when temperatures are soaring about 100*, but c’mon, just the thought of snow makes me want Christmas to hurry up and get here! Hell, I’ve even started thinking of what I could get a family member for Christmas or what Manders might like! Maybe I’ll actually get it all done in time.
So besides my regular babbling and product giveaways (that would be in no relation to the “Christmas in July” even), on July 1st, keep your peepers open for Christmas posts to keep you cool until the weather changes to Fall, and then, well, you get the idea.
If any other bloggers would like to join us for this even, please contact us at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject “Join CIJ”.

Protect-A-Bed Giveaway May 3, 2009Posted by texasheartland in Bedding, Beds, Giveaways, health, Prizes, Products.
Tags: allergies, Bedding, Blogging, giveaway, Giveaways, mattress protector, Products, ProtectABed, twitter
Welcome to Texas Banter’s first giveaway!
Now, with that out of the way, do I have the perfect gift for those who suffer from allergies! I was able to review Protect-A-Bed‘s Premium Mattress Protector. For those that know me, I have allergies- bad. To see my review, visit “Say Goodbye to Allergies in Bed!“.
Did you know that your body can lose up to 2 pints of moisture for every 8 hours you sleep? This moisture is a perfect breeding ground for bacteria and dust mites. Many people don’t realize their mattress is one of the largest sources of allergens in their home, because over time, mattresses collect and absorb dust mites, bacteria, bodily fluids, skin cells, etc.
Protect-A-Bed mattress protectors provide an impermeable barrier between you and the dust mites and allergens within your bedding, while remaining breathable and comfortable. The ultra-thin, extra soft and super absorbent mattress protectors will not detract from the comfort of your bedding, and they are easy-to-use and machine washable.
This is what causes those sneezing nighttimes when you go to bed at night.
You can find more information about the complete range of products they offer at www.protectabed.com.
Now, you ready for what we’re giving away?
Visit Protect-A-Bed and look around. Come back and tell me what other item you would love to have in your home. Also tell me what size you need in the mattress protector. THIS IS MANDATORY- “Enter me” or “I want to win!” does not constitute as an entry.

Words seem to escape me now. I am usually witty but alas, I have nothing. My posts must have become boring because I haven’t even received 1 comment unless I remind my sister to read my blog (as I regularly check hers). How sad that I am reduced to even asking Manders to read my blog. I get readers but not commenters.
I usually have no problem with words, if you haven’t noticed. In fact, I’ve been told I talk a lot so I know that isn’t the problem. Maybe I am starting to talk about things that have no real value as far as information or resources. Hell, Manders could talk about being a meteorologist and get retweeted. Why can’t I talk about stuff that excites people? Who cares if I’m reading some book that has everyone gaga? It’s nothing new. Who cares if I dream of vampires and magic?
True, I am only 24 and can’t post about studying or Smokie all the time. I may not have a super exciting life but damnit, I tend to have super exciting moments. And when I had those super exciting moments, I would write about them. True, Chris Cagle dreams hardly count as super exciting but hey, I couldn’t resist.
Maybe I’ll post my dreams of being a storm chaser or ghost hunter one of these days. Think that will rake in a few true comments? I just had a great idea. Yea, I’ll do that.

I was nabbed by my good friend Linda at Crone and Bear It for a game of 8 tag. I love stuff like this so you know I’m game!. So here we go:
8 things I’m looking forward to:
1. Start the local community college and off to Georgetown, Texas I go to finish up at Southwestern University for Animal Science!
2. Having my first bloggy giveaway! (Now if only I could hurry up and receive the product I’m supposed to review!)
3. Spring storms to come- remember, I live for these!
4. Zeus getting his harness and new leash so maybe he wouldn’t chew on his leash and pull us.
5. Getting back to where my hair is black all the time (instead of my dark brown roots showing and overtaking my hair!)
6. Having a new car to play with for college!
7. Finally finishing “Fool” by Christopher Moore (late 17th century English slang makes me confused.)
8. Losing a few pounds- what woman doesn’t want to, right?
8 things I did yesterday:
2. Did errands.
3. Give the doggy a bath.
4. Read some.
5. Spent time blogging.
6. Told Manders she was as fun as a “kitten playing with yarn”.
7. Spent time on SuperPoke Pets (my new obsession).
8. TRIED to review a CD on the iPod until I realized not all the songs were on it. (That helps in NO way.)
8 things I wish I could do:
1. Learn how to organize so everything I own isn’t in some random box or all over the desk.
2. Constantly hold bloggy giveaways (because I like to give. LOL)
3. Make a stranger’s day everyday!
4. Learn to speak German. (All I know is enough to say “good day”, “good afternoon”, and “good night”… oh, and my last name (which means “child”.))
5. Vacation in Scotland!
6. Teach Zeus to sit, stay, and “No”.
7. Become well-known in computers so I could build my own.
8. Figure out the secret to men.
8 shows I watch:
1. Bizarre Foods
2. Family Guy
6. Ghost Hunters
7. Weird Travels
8 people I tag:
1. Confetti Dreams
2. Midwest Mom
3. The Good, the Bad, the Ugly
4. Anyone who wants to play
5. Anyone who wants to play
6. Anyone who wants to play
7. Anyone who wants to play
8. And anyone else who wants to play
I obviously don’t have a lot of personal “blogging” friends so I am stuck with figuring out those who do check out my blog. So if any readers want to play, feel free to do so! Now that I have no witty or charming answers- play!
Post your own answers to the questions in each category, including 8 people you want to tag. Have fun!

Lately I’ve been hammering on and on about wanting to review products and possibly hold a giveaway. Everyone else is doing it- it sounds like fun! And you know me- I’m all about fun. I’m the epitome of fun. I even have fun when I sleep. Ok, so not really but you get the idea.
As I was going down the list of other blog buttons and reading them, I stopped and wondered- maybe I could have a Texas Banter Reviews blog. But I stopped myself. I just can’t handle another blog. I update this one daily, Frugal Sissy weekly, and TwinTastic whenever I can remember. On top of that, I have to study for college AND find out what kind of business my family can start. Oy! What was I thinking? You’d figure that after over 200 posts on here, several on the others, and College Algebra that my brain would be fried. But remember- I’m witty!
Of course, I’m still looking for products to review. I have a product from BzzAgent to review but it’s a Clean & Clear Makeup Removal kit so that will have to wait when I paint my pretty face for the boys. Who knows when that will be. Makeup + cold = weird complexion. I learned that the hard way one day. I was sick with a cold and when I’m sick, I’m pale. So I thought putting a darker foundation would help. Boy was I wrong! It looked like my face had tanned while I had on longjohns. But when I review the product (on BzzAgent as well on TB), I’ll get lucky and get more inquiries for a review/giveaway.
I still wish I could get rid of this cold and wish the dog would take a nap. He’s grumpy and needs one. So do I.

This morning, I got on and was going through my comments people had left me over night. Now keep in mind that I am far from a morning person and I don’t have my morning cigarette to keep me focused. Oh yea, and that I took allergy medicine before bed. I love feeling woozy. Anyways, I was giong through my comments and deleting those that were spam. I obviously wasn’t paying attention and accidently deleted my mom’s comment on “Holy Moly!”! Oops, I’m sorry Mom! I read it though- just wasn’t paying enough attention to approve it.
It’s Monday, watcha expect. Can’t all have fantastic Mondays! I know my good friend at Crone and Bear It has a Spring cold, I have allergy problems, and my dog is going psycho. Must be the weather. And the fact that I have no cigarettes or tea this morning. Yes, I know smoking is a bad habit and I shouldn’t do it, considering the health I’m in. Been there, done that, heard that lecture. It’s not as easy as you think to quit. I’ll probably end up going to get some smokes and tea later. I’m thirsty and drinking water early in the morning makes me nauseous. Since we have no caffeine, tea has become my new best friend. But we don’t have any.
I studied Algebra last night (yikes!) and it had been almost 3 days since I last studied Monomials and Polynomials. I think I finally get it! Then again I could be wrong. That wouldn’t surprise. But I think I did pretty well. Maybe one of these days I’ll actually succeed in knowing college Algebra.

I feel so loved. Wanna know why?
As I was adding some widgets and stuff to my blog, I noticed how many comments I had. True that it is not as many as others have but I feel so loved! I finally hit the 300 comment mark! A year ago, I didn’t even think I would have 300 comments, let alone over 35,000 views! I wonder why people feel so pulled to Texas Banter.
I surely don’t have an interesting life. I’m just a 24-year-old trying to get into college while often having fights with my computer and twin sister (whos new nickname is “Twister”. “Twin” “Sister”… get it?) and boughts with my health. I can only imagine that there are more interesting blogs around the Information Highway than lil’ ol’ me. I don’t konw why people are so interested in me going on about fractions and studying for college. That, to me, has to be the most boring stuff I’ve ever posted.
Maybe they’re more interested and keep an eye peeled out just in case I talk about Cyber Guy again. Which, they will get their wish. I talked to him Wednesday evening and asked him if he had heard an answer since Sunday he called and told me he was supposed to hear a definite answer on Monday. He didn’t and while I felt bad for him, I felt a little relieved since he wasn’t going to be leaving me so soon. He had said that if he gotten a “yes”, he was going to be gone by the end of next week. But if he does get a “yes”, I will be happy for him and wish him the best. We will still get to see each other ocassionally so I guess not all is lost.
But what baffles me is why people are so interested in Texas Banter. Do I have something in my teeth?
I spoke too soon. He got the transfer.
Sponsor my giveaway! February 14, 2009Posted by texasheartland in Blogging, Contests, Feelings, Friends, Giveaways, Internet, learning, life, Products, random, sponsors, sweepstakes, thoughts.

For some reason, I am having trouble finding a sponsor to hold the giveaway!
I know it’s scary to sponsor a “newbie” giveaway, but that’s how most blog giveaways get started, right? I’m not holding this giveaway just to hold a giveaway, ya know what I mean? My readers (invisible or otherwise) have been so kind- offering words of encouragement when Zeus got into that accident, when I had heartbreaks, when I had a new crush, when I threw that bowling ball at my friend, when Christmas rolled around, when I turned 24, when I didn’t know what to do with my life.
I don’t consider this giveaway to be selfish and I’m not doing it to raise traffic to my blog. That’s what I have you guys for. 😉 I am merely doing this because you all have been with me this past year and I want to give back to you all in some way, shape, or form. Ain’t I nice?
Now with that being said-
If you would like to sponsor my VERY first giveaway, please e-mail at texas_heartland84[at]yahoo[dot]com. We can discuss the matters there. But think about this: You are helping a young woman who wants to give back to her avid readers but needs your help. Your store/products/website will gain amazing volume and most likely, gain some sales! It will also give you a warm fuzzy feeling knowing you are donating. Who doesn’t like that feeling you get?
So, if you are interesting, e-mail me at the above mentioned address or click the “Contact Me” below my banner!
In 1 Month… February 7, 2009Posted by texasheartland in Blogging, Giveaways, Hair, Party, sponsors.

In a month, Texas Banter will be turning a year old! I can’t believe- a whole year gone by! And just look at what I’ve accomplished!
In lieu of the “birthday”, I have decided that I want to hold a giveaway. Consider it like a party! With over 31,310 hits to Texas Banter, I think we could have one heck of a party! So, what do ya say?
I am not going to tell you much more for now but if you want to sponsor you will get many links back to your website from this website and from other blogs posting about this contest – plus a warm giddy feeling that you are donating. If you are unsure what items you’d like to donate, please e-mail and we can work it out.
To sponsor a prize please email me at texas_heartland[at]yahoo[dot]com (or find the “Contact Me” link) with the prize you are kindly willing to donate along with a link to your website so I can link back to your site and the value in $ of your prize. I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Oh yea, on a really random note: Manders hair PURPLE! I know I posted that in my last one, but I mean it’s really purple- especially under the sun!

I was wondering how many were female, how many were male, how many were aliens from outer space, how many were young, and all the rest. So what did I do the minute I logged on this morning? I created 2 polls! One to tell me which gender my faithful readers are, and one for their ages. I doubt I get any teenagers reading but you never know!

The next time I see someone leave a nasty comment (one left a comment just saying “f***you on my 101 Ways To Annoy People post. Luckily due to my comment moderation, I didn’t approve it.) on one of my blogs, I will get out my flying monkeys and broomstick so I can bash them over the head with them.
Why do people feel compelled to leave such mean comments? If it wasn’t directed towards you and I know I don’t post offending stuff, then can’t you keep your mouth shut? Ok, sure the annoying post was annoying but hell, I can post way annoying stuff. I will never be able to figure some people out, and those are on that list.
I’m not mad and I forgive you, whomever “f***you” (they used that as a name as well) is. Next try though. Try another blog that might make use of your name and your “compliments”.
Other than that, I hope everyone has a lovely day, even that “f***you” person. May kindness bite you in the butt!
It called me a liar! January 7, 2009Posted by texasheartland in Blogging, Computers, family, Internet, learning, life, swimming, thoughts.
Tags: best buy, Blogging, computer, family, floaties, liar, life, miracle, swimming, working
Me, mom, and Manders decided to go to Best Buy after the library to get some prices on computer towers. We stopped by the Dollar Store to get a few things, and we came home. Me and Manders went into the bedroom while our Mom tried to see if she can get it to work one more time.
Though I have to share that while we were out, we were talking that life is like swimming. You have rafts, boats, and lifesavers sometimes. There are times you don’t. I said “I don’t even have my floaties!”. Funny, huh?
Through some miraculous thing, the computer turned on. The computer turned on? The computer turned on! Oh hallelujah, the computer works! But I didn’t get on. I took a nap. Now I take the time to used whatever blank CDs we currently have (we’re getting more tomorrow) and put every picture we have on the computer onto the disk. That way when we get the new computer tower in 2 months, I can just add them onto that. I don’t care. Atleast I won’t have to go 2 months without ya’ll: my faithful readers and friends.
I still don’t have my floaties!
