CIJ: Dali Decals Review & Giveaway- ENDED July 2, 2009

NOTE: IF YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE GETTING THE DALI DECALS WEBSITE TO LOAD, FEEL FREE TO BOOKMARK THIS PAGE AND COME BACK AT A LATER TIME.

Thanks to our friends at Dali Decals, you have the chance to win!

dalidecalsWe couldn’t start Christmas in July without having something fun to do! So when I was able to review Dali Decals products, I was happy! I needed something to spruce up the dreaded white bedroom walls. I chose “Dare to be remarkable” simply because it fits how me and Manders are. The day it arrived, I really had nothing planned so I decided to immediately put it up. It was REALLY easy to take it off the backing. But because I didn’t get a squeegee, it was kind of difficult to put it on the wall. The letters kept sticking to what looked like masking tape. So I stood there, carefully peeling away the tape so that I wouldn’t rip a letter or only have 1/2 of the quote transferred. What looks so weird but yet cool is that the quote looks like someone wrote it with a Sharpie! Since Mom never let us write on walls, this worked out perfectly!

So why are Wall Stickers cool for Christmas? Because they do have Holiday decals for your walls/windows/mirrors this Holiday season and they make GREAT stocking stuffers! Granted they won’t fit in most stockings and wrapping might be a tad bit impossible, but you get the idea. Dali Decals is giving one (1) of my readers a $25 gift certificate to Dali Decals! How can you get in on the Christmas in July action?

Go to Dali Decals, come back and tell me what you would get with your $25 gift certificate!

THIS IS MANDATORY! “Enter me” or “Nice giveaway” does not constitute as an entry and will be removed. YOU MUST LEAVE A VALID E-MAIL TO ENTER! OPEN TO U.S. RESIDENTS ONLY.

Keep Eyes Peeled… May 9, 2009

I wanted to let my readers know to keep your eyes peeled!

“For what?” you may ask.

As soon as I am feeling better, I will be reviewing another product. What happened the last time I reviewed a product? That’s right, I held a giveaway. I cannot tell you what the giveaway is for because I haven’t reviewed the product yet. But once I review the product and post the review, my readers (that’s you!) will be able to enter once more for the chance to win something from yours truly!

So what made me want to start holding giveaways?

Well, it all started back when Zeus was in his accident. My readers banded together and decided to keep happy thoughts through out my blog even when my family thought we would lose him. I wanted to give back in some way but couldn’t personally afford to give everyone something. So I thought again. I remembered seeing blogs holding giveaways and I thought it was a bright idea. While not everyone wins, it’s the thought that counts!

This next giveaway won’t be the last either. There will be plenty to come!

So… keep your eyes peeled for another Texas Banter Giveaway!

Protect-A-Bed Giveaway May 3, 2009

Welcome to Texas Banter’s first giveaway!

Now, with that out of the way, do I have the perfect gift for those who suffer from allergies! I was able to review Protect-A-Bed‘s Premium Mattress Protector. For those that know me, I have allergies- bad. To see my review, visit “Say Goodbye to Allergies in Bed!“.

Did you know that your body can lose up to 2 pints of moisture for every 8 hours you sleep? This moisture is a perfect breeding ground for bacteria and dust mites.  Many people don’t realize their mattress is one of the largest sources of allergens in their home, because over time, mattresses collect and absorb dust mites, bacteria, bodily fluids, skin cells, etc.

Protect-A-Bed mattress protectors provide an impermeable barrier between you and the dust mites and allergens within your bedding, while remaining breathable and comfortable. The ultra-thin, extra soft and super absorbent mattress protectors will not detract from the comfort of your bedding, and they are easy-to-use and machine washable.

This is what causes those sneezing nighttimes when you go to bed at night.

You can find more information about the complete range of products they offer at www.protectabed.com.

Now, you ready for what we’re giving away?

Protect-A-Bed has decided to give one lucky reader a Premium Mattress Protector. Here’s how to enter:

Visit Protect-A-Bed and look around. Come back and tell me what other item you would love to have in your home. Also tell me what size you need in the mattress protector. THIS IS MANDATORY- “Enter me” or “I want to win!” does not constitute as an entry.

Extra Entries (6) (Please leave a separate comment for each letting me know):

*Follow me on Twitter (Username- texasheartland)
*Subscribe to Texas Banter Mailing List

Contest starts May 4th and will end on May 10th at 11:59CST. Entries after this time will not count. The winner will have 48 hours to reply to the winning notification e-mail or I will choose another winner. YOU MUST LEAVE AN E-MAIL TO ENTER! OPEN TO U.S. RESIDENTS ONLY.

I’m so proud of her! March 1, 2009

I know it sounds really weird right now for me to say that, especially after my last post about Smokie. I’ll get to her in a little bit. But I am proud of Manders!

Why am I proud of my twin sister? She just told me she wanted to learn Irish Gaelic! Now remember, I know a little Scottish Gaelic. These 2 languages ARE EXTREMELY DIFFERENT and are practically “dead” languages (meaning that anyone hardly speaks them anymore). They are are extremely difficult languages to learn. I gave up on Scottish Gaelic because I found it was too hard for me to learn. I didn’t believe in myself and was confident enough that I could actually speak it fluently. But since Manders was the first one out of the both of us to mention college, I know she’ll be able to handle something as small as Irish Gaelic.

Speaking of college, I have started studying for the THEA (Texas Higher Education Assessment), which is a test new student are applying for even a 2 year college must take. It evaluates the readiness of students for college-level coursework in Texas. There are only 3 sections: Reading, Math, and Writing. I need the most help in Math and Writing so I am starting on the Writing before I start on the Math so I can dedicate a lot of my time to the Math section- since that’s where I need the most help. Well, also on the impromtu essay but that I can work on while I’m working on the math.

Ok, now I know you’re anxious to know how Smokie is doing. She is doing a lot better than she was when she had the kittens and the following day after. She still wants a lot of attention and still continues to sleep almost all day long but she is getting better. Her and Princess (Manders’ kitty) play fought a little earlier. We had Subway the other day and she wanted some of my Philly Steak & Cheese so that’s a good sign. I think she’ll be depressed for  awhile but we have learned (and I’m sure Smokie has learned this as well) that it was the last time she was pregnant. It’s kind of sad when you think about it. I guess it’s like going into menopause, knowing you can’t have any more children. I wouldn’t know. I haven’t hit menopause yet. I’m only 24!

As far as my health goes, I am getting A LOT better. I am starting to regain my energy and don’t have as many heart palpitations like I used to. I’m eating 1-2 bananas a day along with carrots and celery. When I take Zeus outside, I will actually run with him so that we both get exercise. I have my good days and bad days, like we all do. What can I say- One day at a time.

Oh yea, before I forget, I have something to tell ya! I possibly have a sponsor for the giveaway. I know, it’s taking forever. I just have to hear back from them as a confirmation, review the product, then we can hold the giveaway. Geez, I think it would be easier to hold a giveaway on TwinTastic (since our readers are of different demographics) with our own money than wait on a sponsor! Speaking of which, we will be holding a giveaway on TwinTastic soon, as well. So head over to TwinTastic for more information!

No, I am not holding a giveaway for BBQ sauce. I might’ve tried and reviewed it, but that doesn’t mean I’m giving some away. But my twin, Manders, is! She is now holding a giveaway where you can win 1 of 2 bottles of the awesome sauce, Country Bob’s! This is her first giveaway and we want her to have an awesome turnout!

So where can you go to win free BBQ sauce that tastes great on pretty much anything? Head over to Confetti Dreams for more information and to enter this awesome giveaway!

Who the hell doesn’t like BBQ and yummy BBQ sauce?

I am gleaming with joy. And why? Because we just finished installing the new power supply for the new computer. We got frustrated but once we took a small break, and went back, we got it done. We plugged it in and turned it on. Power was restored to the once paperweight! It feels so nice to have the computer back. I got real tired of going to the library every day and now, I might actually have a day off! True, that’s wishful thinking but I deserve it.

Now that the computer is back in business, maybe I’ll actually be able to hold that giveaway. I probably won’t hold it this week, considering that this past week has been extremely busy. I will probably take a few days off to relax since it has been “go” almost every single day. Not to mention I’m not sleeping well since we now have 2 cats in heat (at the same time), Zeus barking at the wind, and Smokie wanting constant attention. Maybe one night I’ll just put ear plugs in and try to sleep that way.

But in the words of Stewie Griffin- Victory is mine!

The Saga continues! February 19, 2009

Yes, I am still at the library. Yes, I am, once again, having computer problems.

Let me back up a few days. On Tuesday evening, my mom updated our virus program and she had to restart it. So she did… Well, the monitor started saying “Check Signal Cable”. We had no idea what that meant until we realized something- duh, the signal cable! It’s probably old and needs to be replaced. We’re HOPING that’s what the problem is. If not, I’m going to scream and throw BOTH computers out the door.

So after we are done here, we’re going to go search for a replacement cable (ya know, the one that hooks up from the monitor to the computer) and hope it works. If it does, I will most likely start holding the giveaway. If not, you might have to wait until we get this figured out.

I know, I know. You were all excited about it but this has happened beyond my control. I swear- technology is out to get us!

If you see another post today, then it worked. If you don’t- well, you get the idea.

Once again, I am so sorry.

My Words of the Day February 18, 2009

It has occurred to me that I talk… a lot. But lately, I’ve been having “words of the day”. For instance, a couple of days ago when me and Manders were talking, I kept saying “exactly” and I realized that I practically said it all day. Today, my word is “yea”. Yea this, yea that. Yea. Maybe tomorrow my “word of the day” will be “maybe”. Ya never know.

I have no idea where I was going with this. But anyways, I’m at the library. Again. Our old computer wouldn’t turn on this morning and we realized that maybe it wasn’t a “morning person”. It has trouble turning on in the morning but has no problem whatsoever turning on in the afternoon. I hate technology. It drives me insane and frustrates me. The computer I’m on won’t allow me to enter my sweeps (refer to archives), check MySpace, or even sit in a comfortable chair. I hate technology.

I NOW know what I will use for a prize in my up-coming giveaway. I know that not everyone will enter it because they have to have it but since no one has given me ideas or willing to sponsor the giveaway, I am dealing with what I have. How come everyone else gets to have their giveaway sponsored except me? I realized I’m not wildly popular on the Internet but damnit, I deserve something! Geez!

I am done ranting. Yea.

EDITED TO ADD: YOU MIGHT WANT TO SUBSCRIBE TO TEXAS BANTER ONE WAY OR ANOTHER SO YOU ARE UPDATED ABOUT THE GIVEAWAY.

I’m going to say this once more and probably won’t mention it again until it’s time- if you’ve read my blog, you know I am going to be hosting a giveaway.

While I have an idea for 1 prize, I’m not sure how many people would like it. I want to be able to have it to where everyone (or pretty much most of them) would entering and receiving the prize. This is NOT the giveaway but somewhat of a participation in it. You don’t get any entries and you’re name isn’t entered into a hat for it. You are participating in what you COULD win. With that being said, I need your ideas!

If you have an idea for another prize that isn’t too terribly expensive, let me know! Sit there, think about it, and tell me! If I like it enough, I’ll put BOTH prizes up for grabs! If I pick your prize, I won’t tell you! I’ll let it be a surprise.

Now tell me those ideas!

And technology!

Our new computer went kaput on us early early Sunday morning. All we did was turn it off and couldn’t get it turned back on. We took it to Best Buy this morning. Somehow, a bug got in there. The “Geek Squad” dude opened it, looked at it for like just 2 seconds, said “That’s your problem. It voided the warranty, so we can’t fix it.” and sent us on our way. He wasn’t even nice about it! So we were all upset. If he would have been nicer about it, maybe it wouldn’t have been so bad.  People say “it’s the user’s fault” but how can it be our fault if we had no idea about it?! You generally try to keep your computer area clean to prevent this but you can’t be perfect! Grr! I hate Mondays!

But luckily, our old friend and computer turned on with no problems (except the HP keyboard didn’t work with it) so we’re using the 5-year-old Gateway until we get the other one repaired.

Onto another subject-

Since NO ONE is willing to sponsor my first giveaway, I think I may have an idea. Ya’ll just sit tight until I figure this thing out!

For some reason, I am having trouble finding a sponsor to hold the giveaway!

I know it’s scary to sponsor a “newbie” giveaway, but that’s how most blog giveaways get started, right? I’m not holding this giveaway just to hold a giveaway, ya know what I mean? My readers (invisible or otherwise) have been so kind- offering words of encouragement when Zeus got into that accident, when I had heartbreaks, when I had a new crush, when I threw that bowling ball at my friend, when Christmas rolled around, when I turned 24, when I didn’t know what to do with my life.

I don’t consider this giveaway to be selfish and I’m not doing it to raise traffic to my blog. That’s what I have you guys for. 😉 I am merely doing this because you all have been with me this past year and I want to give back to you all in some way, shape, or form. Ain’t I nice?

Now with that being said-

If you would like to sponsor my VERY first giveaway, please e-mail at texas_heartland84[at]yahoo[dot]com. We can discuss the matters there. But think about this: You are helping a young woman who wants to give back to her avid readers but needs your help. Your store/products/website will gain amazing volume and most likely, gain some sales! It will also give you a warm fuzzy feeling knowing you are donating. Who doesn’t like that feeling you get?

So, if you are interesting, e-mail me at the above mentioned address or click the “Contact Me” below my banner!
