As you know, my house has 2 kittens that are bundles of energy- constantly trying to run, scamper, playing with each other (sometimes having needed to be pulled apart because they play too rough), playing with us humans, and playing with Mommy cat. They are at that stage where they also want to play with other things like catalogs, books, and sometimes the TV remote.
Our friends at Purrfect Play sent our kitties some toys to play with. The kittens got the Dust Bunnies (which are wool wrapped into pompoms). Even Mommy cat got a couple of Wool Balls and a Brown Organic Fleece Mouse (crafted from naturally brown organic cotton fleece) for those “needing a break” times. All of Purrfect Play’s items are organic and dye-free to keep your pet healthy without all the icky chemicals that can sometimes be found in our pet toys. They not only offer toys for kitties, they also have doggie toys and gifts for people!
So what was the verdict of the Dust Bunnies? The kittens weren’t too sure at first but when they realized they were 
toys, they loved them. They even sat up with it in their mouths. Mommy cat loved the Brown Organic Fleece Mouse (maybe because it had catnip in it) and it gave her tons of energy that she was able to play with her kittens. She also loved the Wool Balls, pawing them to where they would roll off the bed. I hadn’t seen her had that much fun in a long time! I snapped pictures of kittens Brother and Sister playing but didn’t get a chance because once Mommy cat knows she’s getting her picture taken, she stops playing.

We couldn’t start Christmas in July without having something fun to do! So when I was able to review Dali Decals products, I was happy! I needed 
something to spruce up the dreaded white bedroom walls. I chose “Dare to be remarkable” simply because it fits how me and Manders are. The day it arrived, I really had nothing planned so I decided to immediately put it up. It was REALLY easy to take it off the backing. But because I didn’t get a squeegee, it was kind of difficult to put it on the wall. The letters kept sticking to what looked like masking tape. So I stood there, carefully peeling away the tape so that I wouldn’t rip a letter or only have 1/2 of the quote transferred. What looks so weird but yet cool is that the quote looks like someone wrote it with a Sharpie! Since Mom never let us write on walls, this worked out perfectly!
So why are Wall Stickers cool for Christmas? Because they do have Holiday decals for your walls/windows/mirrors this Holiday season and they make GREAT stocking stuffers! Welcome to the first day of the “Christmas in July” event!
We have a whole month stocked full of early Christmas ideas so you can maybe start getting together your Christmas wishlist, maybe some early shopping ideas, Christmas memories, and ways to decorate for Christmas!

Tomorrow, Texas Banter will be holding it’s first “Christmas in July” giveaway and it will be for Dali Decals. Ya know, Christmas is one of my favorite Holidays. While it isn’t my favorite (that title goes to Halloween), it certainly is my next favorite. The cold air just lets know that it is Christmas. I loveseeing the Christmas lights glowing on the outside of homes and the elaborate displays they create. The wrapping paper sparking underneath the Christmas tree. The slow and relaxing sounds of Christmas songs. And spending time with the ones you love.
While we tend to have mild Winters here in Texas, there is no doubt that the cold air that enters your nose as your breath reminds you that Christmas is finally here.
And since the temperature is easily reaching 100* or more, why not cool off your mind with a little Christmas in July?

Even though tomorrow IS the start of Christmas in July, I will be holding a giveaway. First I have to post the review today so that I can hold the giveaway tomorrow. Usually I hold giveaways on Fridays but because of the way it worked out, that isn’t the case this time.
I will give you one hint and one hint only: it’s food. I mean, c’mon. Who doesn’t enjoy the chance to win free food? 
Then on July 2nd, we will be holding another giveaway, but this time it is part of Christmas in July.
Each will go for a week and both will be on the main page for your pick. Rules will be ON each giveaway since the Christmas in July rules may encompass different entries. You can even enter both if you’d like.

I wanted to let my readers know to keep your eyes peeled!
“For what?” you may ask.
As soon as I am feeling better, I will be reviewing another product. What happened the last time I reviewed a product? That’s right, I held a giveaway. I cannot tell you what the giveaway is for because I haven’t reviewed the product yet. But once I review the product and post the review, my readers (that’s you!) will be able to enter once more for the chance to win something from yours truly!
So what made me want to start holding giveaways?
Well, it all started back when Zeus was in his accident. My readers banded together and decided to keep happy thoughts through out my blog even when my family thought we would lose him. I wanted to give back in some way but couldn’t personally afford to give everyone something. So I thought again. I remembered seeing blogs holding giveaways and I thought it was a bright idea. While not everyone wins, it’s the thought that counts!

I know it sounds really weird right now for me to say that, especially after my last post about Smokie. I’ll get to her in a little bit. But I am proud of Manders!
Why am I proud of my twin sister? She just told me she wanted to learn Irish Gaelic! Now remember, I know a little Scottish Gaelic. These 2 languages ARE EXTREMELY DIFFERENT and are practically “dead” languages (meaning that anyone hardly speaks them anymore). They are are extremely difficult languages to learn. I gave up on Scottish Gaelic because I found it was too hard for me to learn. I didn’t believe in myself and was confident enough that I could actually speak it fluently. But since Manders was the first one out of the both of us to mention college, I know she’ll be able to handle something as small as Irish Gaelic.
Speaking of college, I have started studying for the THEA (Texas Higher Education Assessment), which is a test new student are applying for even a 2 year college must take. It evaluates the readiness of students for college-level coursework in Texas. There are only 3 sections: Reading, Math, and Writing. I need the most help in Math and Writing so I am starting on the Writing before I start on the Math so I can dedicate a lot of my time to the Math section- since that’s where I need the most help. Well, also on the impromtu essay but that I can work on while I’m working on the math.
Ok, now I know you’re anxious to know how Smokie is doing. She is doing a lot better than she was when she had the kittens and the following day after. She still wants a lot of attention and still continues to sleep almost all day long but she is getting better. Her and Princess (Manders’ kitty) play fought a little earlier. We had Subway the other day and she wanted some of my Philly Steak & Cheese so that’s a good sign. I think she’ll be depressed for awhile but we have learned (and I’m sure Smokie has learned this as well) that it was the last time she was pregnant. It’s kind of sad when you think about it. I guess it’s like going into menopause, knowing you can’t have any more children. I wouldn’t know. I haven’t hit menopause yet. I’m only 24!
As far as my health goes, I am getting A LOT better. I am starting to regain my energy and don’t have as many heart palpitations like I used to. I’m eating 1-2 bananas a day along with carrots and celery. When I take Zeus outside, I will actually run with him so that we both get exercise. I have my good days and bad days, like we all do. What can I say- One day at a time.
Oh yea, before I forget, I have something to tell ya! I possibly have a sponsor for the giveaway. I know, it’s taking forever. I just have to hear back from them as a confirmation, review the product, then we can hold the giveaway. Geez, I think it would be easier to hold a giveaway on TwinTastic (since our readers are of different demographics) with our own money than wait on a sponsor! I’m going to say this once more and probably won’t mention it again until it’s time- if you’ve read my blog, you know I am going to be hosting a giveaway.
While I have an idea for 1 prize, I’m not sure how many people would like it. I want to be able to have it to where everyone (or pretty much most of them) would entering and receiving the prize. This is NOT the giveaway but somewhat of a participation in it. You don’t get any entries and you’re name isn’t entered into a hat for it. You are participating in what you COULD win. With that being said, I need your ideas!

In a month, Texas Banter will be turning a year old! I can’t believe- a whole year gone by! And just look at what I’ve accomplished!

I seem to have a problem (as if that’s nothing new!)! I entered a giveaway about a year ago hoping to win a rack of Mrs. Dash spices. I didn’t win so I entered another giveaway for a sky.fm subscription. I won, much to my surprise!
Then, I got addicted. Do you know that there are over 700-800 contests/sweepstakes/giveaways happening EVERY month? You can win everything from underwear to guitars to even vacations. I don’t enter to win vacations, only because I can’t afford the taxes. I haven’t really won much (except the subscription) but I usually enter to win stuff I know my family could use, possible gifts, or things I know I would enjoy.
